About us
Established in 2013 in Bangalore, FCDS (Foundation for Comprehensive Development and Sustainability) was founded with a visionary ambition to drive holistic development in society. Our guiding principle stems from the profound words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” FCDS serves as a dynamic platform for individuals and organizations seeking to actively contribute to positive transformation.
Our diverse interventions span across Health, Education, Livelihood, Capacity Building, and the crucial task of restoring greenery to our surroundings. FCDS embarked on this journey with a strong focus on the city of Bangalore, gradually expanding our services throughout the state of Karnataka. Today, our organization stands as a recognized brand in the realm of Community Development and Environmental Restoration, leaving a tangible impact on society.
We take immense pride in the remarkable impression we have made on our supporters and stakeholders, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to fostering change. The time has come for us to spread our wings, transcending geographical boundaries, and extending our mission of comprehensive development globally.
At FCDS, we firmly believe that sustainable progress can only be achieved through collective efforts. We invite you to join us on this transformative journey as we strive to create a more inclusive and environmentally conscious world. Together, we can make a lasting difference and ensure a brighter future for generations to come.

Our History
FCDS embarked on its journey by addressing critical healthcare challenges in rural and remote areas of Karnataka. With the state grappling with high prevalence rates of HIV/AIDS, TB, and other communicable diseases, our dedicated volunteers reached every corner of the state, educating communities about prevention and treatment. Collaborating closely with government agencies, community-based organizations, NGOs, and private practitioners, we worked tirelessly to tackle these health issues head-on.
Our partnership with the RNTCP (Revised National Tuberculosis Programme) and DAPCU (District AIDS Prevention and Control Units) enabled us to sensitize healthcare staff at government hospitals, grassroots-level NGOs, and community-based organizations. We established sputum collection centers at every panchayat and private practitioners’ clinic, resulting in a significant increase of 60% in early diagnosis of new TB cases. Additionally, we set up numerous DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) providing centers. These efforts were recognized when we were honored with the prestigious “Well Performing NGO of the Year 2014” award from RNTCP, Tumkur.
During the initial two years, we diligently reached out to numerous underserved villages, generating awareness on various health issues. However, it soon became evident that our impact should extend beyond healthcare. We expanded our scope to address pressing community concerns such as environmental conservation, unemployment, poverty, gender inequality, education, livelihood, nutrition, and women and child development.
To date, we have successfully trained and placed over 15,500 unemployed youth from across the state in various fields such as home health aid, security guard, chefs, housekeeping, and baby caretakers. The average starting salary for these placements in 2022 was a remarkable Rs. 21,000/-, providing these individuals with stable and sustainable income to support their families. Overcoming the initial skill gaps was a challenging endeavor, but through dedicated training programs, we have empowered them to secure full-time employment.
In our pursuit of comprehensive community development, we have established 785 youth clubs and continue to expand their numbers. These clubs serve as catalysts for change, sensitizing rural youth to actively participate in the developmental aspects of their respective villages. They lead initiatives such as plantation drives, preservation of green spaces, protection of natural water resources, and biodiversity conservation at the grassroots level. This model has proven to be a best practice, and we are striving to replicate it in every village, subject to funding availability.
At FCDS, we are committed to empowering communities and transforming lives. Join us in our endeavor to create sustainable change and build a brighter future for all.
